Book a BJJ drop-in at five of the UK's best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gyms, from £20 a class, with academies in London and Brighton. Every session is confirmed instantly online, with no need to contact the gym first.
Each gym's listing shows its live timetable, head coach and facilities, so you can compare academies and book the session that fits your trip.
London is the centre of the UK's BJJ scene, and you can book drop-ins at four of its academies on DOJOTAP. Roger Gracie Euston offers fundamentals-focused gi and no-gi training in Roger Gracie's lineage, close to Euston station. Stoa Grappling in Moorgate combines BJJ with wrestling and judo, alongside performance training and recovery. GrappleZone Waterloo is a Checkmat academy whose instructors include 2024 IBJJF No-Gi World Champion Faris Benlamkadem, and Putney Jiu Jitsu in south-west London has more than 200 members, with an on-site sauna and ice bath. Stoa Grappling and Putney Jiu Jitsu also run open mats you can book online. Compare them in our London BJJ guide.
On the south coast, Grand Union Jiu Jitsu & Wellness in Rottingdean runs gi and no-gi classes under 4th-degree black belt Cesar Lima, with a strength and conditioning area and a wellness area with a sauna on site. Brighton is roughly an hour from London by direct train, so it's easy to train in both cities on one trip. See our Brighton BJJ guide.
One of the first to teach Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the UK was Maurício Motta Gomes, Roger Gracie's father, who began teaching in Birmingham. His son Roger Gracie, a 10-time world champion, went on to build his academy in London, and its Hammersmith headquarters is now one of the biggest academies in the city. London also hosts major competitions, including the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam.
Three of the London academies on DOJOTAP are close to major stations (Euston, Moorgate and Waterloo), so it's easy to fit a session around work or sightseeing. Putney Jiu Jitsu is a short journey from the centre, minutes from East Putney and Putney stations.
Kit rules vary by gym. Some London academies operate a no-shoes policy beyond the entrance and require flip-flops or slippers off the mats, so check each gym's listing before you go. Arrive 10 to 15 minutes early, and tell the coach your belt and any injuries.
If you're in the UK for longer, combine city and coast: train in London during the week, then head down to Rottingdean for a session by the sea.
It depends on where and how you want to train. In London, DOJOTAP lists four academies, from Roger Gracie Euston's fundamentals-focused training to Putney Jiu Jitsu's deep, technical room with an on-site sauna and ice bath. In Brighton, Grand Union Jiu Jitsu & Wellness offers structured gi and no-gi classes under 4th-degree black belt Cesar Lima. Our London and Brighton guides compare each gym in detail.
Drop-ins at the UK academies bookable on DOJOTAP range from £20 to £35, depending on the gym. You pay online when you book, and each gym's price is shown on its listing.
